After taken over by Dato Tony Fernandes company Tune Air Sdn Bhd for the token sum of the ringgit in 2rd December 2001.
AirAsia starting with only 2 airplane with fly few routes around Malaysia, with expanding rapid and welcome by public with the lower fare. After success expand in the domestic routes, Airasia continue their expanding to the asia and world. It's also continuesly showing their flying colourful financial result.
